Ingredients
  

French Toast
  • 8 slices Texas-style bread
  • 113 g cream cheese, softened
  • 30 g powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 150 g sliced fresh strawberries
  • 4 large eggs
  • 120 ml milk
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract for egg mixture
  • 28 g butter
  • to taste Maple syrup, for serving
  • to taste Extra powdered sugar, for dusting

Method
 

  1. In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth. Fold in sliced strawberries gently.
  2. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly onto 4 slices of bread, then top each with another slice to make 4 sandwiches.
  3. In a separate shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  4. Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides thoroughly.
  6. Cook sandwiches in the skillet until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Remove from skillet and dust with powdered sugar. Serve warm with maple syrup.

Notes

For an extra indulgent touch, add chopped nuts inside the filling or top the French toast with whipped cream and fresh berries.
